What a dilemma – I had to chose between a covered dish lunch or California Dreaming. I chose both. Let me explain.

My employer, National Health Care was kind enough to observe National Activities Therapy Week. My department, The Activities Department was treated to an awesome lunch at California Dreaming. It’s hard to believe the server was actually brave enough to agree to take care of us. I say “thank you!” The portions were so big, I had to leave with a “take home” box – a second one.

The first “take home” box was presented to me as I raced out he door at Park Street Baptist Church. It was off to California Dreaming to meet my cohorts. This “take home” box had something special inside – love! Baptist women can cook. Wow!

I remember a time when I played for a huge crowd of people for a corporate event. I couldn’t wait to get away from the unappreciative people. I would say there were about 20 very thankful Keenagers at Park Street. Not a problem. I could have spent the whole day with my new friends. Geneva Martin is to be commended for assembling a wonderful event. One thing we all seemed to agree on is that there is something about the name of Jesus!

This was a good day. I don’t think O.J. Simpson could have kept up with me but is was well worth it. As I reflect before turning out the light, I say “Thank You Lord” for a job that I love so much and for my new friends at Park Street. Thank you Lord for the gift of music!

Mom and I spent some quality time with The Primetimers at Lebanon Methodist Church in Eastover SC. I threw my diet out the window when I saw the display of covered dishes and deserts. The music business is killin’ me!

Of course I forgot the camera. It’s rare when you find two Irenes in the same room. Both my Mom , Irene and Irene from the church had front row seats. The other beautiful people in the room became like family. I miss the country!

Then it was off to Mr. Bunkys where Irene got my foot in the door. My cd’s (all 4) are for sale. Now – if you live in the far east, you can visit this real cool store. Please support Mr. Bunkys.

I will forever remember my new friends in Eastover SC. What a lovely place.

Destination, Wagener SC. It was a great day for a birthday celebration. We dodged a major hurricane. The weather was pretty good. I met Claude’s son Jamie, through a West Metro Chamber meeting. Jamie represented Pineview Florist. I agreed to provide the music for the birthday party. I called on my buddies from the Legacy Band and they got the job done. From left to right is Doug Parker (drums and vocals), Claude Gantt (the man of the evening), Phil Frazier (keys, bass, vocals, gum chewer) and Me.

The food was great! Grecian Gardens had some pretty awesome food there. I also noticed a lot of covered dish selections brought in by some of the guests. It was a small town feel – no better feeling.

We wish Claude all the best and for a great birthday!

These little guys, however look like bees. They come and visit us every year then fly back to Brazil in August. This is probably the only thing that can,or will, beat the fourth of July fireworks at Lake Murray.

The picture you see is me playing sax for the guests aboard The Spirit Of Lake Murray as they waited anxiously to see this phenomenon. http://www.spiritoflakemurray.com/

The Sensational Epics look forward to this event every year. We lost a dear friend Jimmy Anderson due to cancer. This is our chance to get together and have fun while raising money to take us one step closer to the cure.

Of course so many people helped out. But what an event to have Mr. Joe Pinner as the Emcee and DJ Hunter Herring for when The Epics took a break!

Most of us know someone that has cancer. That in itself is very unfortunate. These folks need our prayers. That’s the most important thing we can do. We can also think about how fortunate we are to be able to work and give. If you feel like giving I’m sure you too can help us take it one step closer to a cure. http://www.acscan.org/action/sc Thank you.

Phil Frazier ( keyboards) and John Wilkinson (guitar) were invited to volunteer this evening. They both said Yes! The picture you see is of two guys that are true friends. It was humid and quite toasty. It was a work day. There was 5 o’clock traffic. They still said yes. Well done gentlemen!

The grill masters did an awesome job grilling chicken and hot dogs. The event went over very successfully. There are so people that made this a success I don’t want to risk leaving any names out, so I will just say thank you all that worked so hard tonight. Thank you Lord for sun!

I just celebrated my 13th month at National Health Care. This facility “gets it.” I feel like I am at home every time I clock in. I am the most blessed man on earth. Michael Manley, our administrator has his hands full yet still does a remarkable job relating to the residents and staff.

If you have a loved one that is in need of nursing care please consider National Health Care. Caring is our business.

Judy joined me with her beautiful voice as she sang a few songs. This made us all feel like family. The residents know Judy well by her working in the business office but to hear her sing was a treat for all of us.

Rebecca was the star of the show. She did a fine job putting it together. There was such a sweet spirit in the room today. Much like Rebecca’s spirit. Many thanks to all the folks that made today possible. I understand Presbyterian Home will be celebrating a significant anniversary June 9. I have a feeling I may be a small part of that celebration. Stay tuned.

It’s the white pants that mad the day interesting. I showed up with black pants. It ain’t memorial day yet! Actually I have a habit of speed reading my e mails. As you can tell with 11 Epics it usually takes a hundred fifty e mails just to decide what clothes to wear. One member had a pair of white pants that fit me. Another member had a pair of white shorts that fit him. So the drummer was happy wearing white shorts. It was a warm day. Thanks to all the fans that showed up.

Look for The Sensational Epics May 21 in Blythewood South Carolina. It’s The Blythewood Beach Blast for the Cancer Society.
