Wait a minute Mr. Postman

By Bob Michalski

The Carpenters had no idea their song would be sung at the Grecian Gardens restaurant in the year 2009 by a young Polish girl.  But I do know this.  The Lord had Melody and I in mind to meet some pretty terrific people tonight.  The terrific  people are the retired Postal Workers from the greater Columbia area.  The dinner was perfect.  All you locals may want to visit the restaurant.  You’ll be glad you did.

Mr. Robert E. Lee knows how to throw a party for sure!  He found out about Melody and I from the great people at College Place Methodist Church.  I even got away with picking on the Lutherans tonight.  The folks had an amazing sense of humor.  What can I say?  They understood my jokes.  If only the evening could have lasted longer.  We could have stayed all night.  But we will be back.

One of the highlights of my crazy day is looking in my mailbox for all kinds of surprises.  It’s guys and gals such as the folks we met tonight that makes the Post Office operate so successfully.  Say what you want.  Call it “snail mail” or even “junk mail” , the US Postal Service does an awesome job every day!  Thank you Retired Postal Workers for laying the foundation.  See you all soon-I hope.

One Response so far

I’m one of those Postal People who enjoyed Bob playing at our monthly gathering. In fact, I was the “Postman” that delivered a letter to Melody!. We had a really good time listing to Bob’s outstanding performance.
