A look at January’s performances
January started out kind of weird. I retired on the 2nd. Since then I’ve done a lot of catching up on my thinking and that ever long chore list that’s been building since I started working for the State of SC since 1979.
The Rice Home was my first stop with The Campfire Singers. Later that week I was a saxophone judge for the Richland School District One Honors Band. This is one event I look forward to every year. I love critiquing the kids as they play for me. I’m really in my element when in that classroom. Love it, love it! It was a rare Monday night gig when I played for the Airport Commission. This event was held at 300 Senate Street. I got to see many legislators as they made an effort to bridge with the Airport Commission. Love was in the air, or at least it sounded like it. The next Wednesday it was back to Agape Home with the Campfire Singers. This is a very special home on Trenholm Road. Atria was the next stop-a real nice assisted living facility on Forest Drive. In fact we’re there every Friday from 3:30 till 4:30 PM. I finally got to play at The Finley House in Five Points. The folks were very engaged with the music. I finished out the month at Hulon Green, West Columbia. It was a covered dish dinner. WOW! Those folks can cook.
Remember I’m retired now. I would love to do a concert at your church especially for the Seniors. I can come just about any time, any day. Thanks for considering me!
